Moon rocket lamp

As the first piece of the #trash2design series, the Moon rocket lamp was originally a lost piece of material on its way to the landfill. With some some careful thought and alteration a PVC pipe fitting was turned into something unique that has its own history. This project demonstrates how lost items can be refound and reimagined.

The Moon rocket lamp uses a pulley system to lift the inner pipe fitting revealing a steady transition of light from a series of different drilled hole sizes. While the pulley is left unpulled, the inner fitting can be twisted to hint at this hidden function from the "moon" hole on the side. This lamp has a handfull of easter eggs for the user to discover.

Along with the main pipe fitting being reused, the lamp also incorporates an old skateboard bearing, a broken snowboard boot cable, a scrap piece of walnut, and a old siding nail.
